Our mission is to inspire, challenge, and empower all students with the knowledge and skills required to reach their full potential, to contribute to future generations, and to become involved members of a global community
What is the Success Center?
The program was created in order to mentor, tutor, and coach students who have fallen behind in credits or who would benefit from additional support during the school day. Our goal is to help students stay on track for graduation in four years. There are many reasons for failing classes, and because each student’s reasons are different, the Success Center interviews each student about his or her academic history, successes, and struggles. Students who choose to take advantage of the program attend a daily study hall in the Success Center, which is staffed by a licensed teacher and a paraprofessional. In the first days, we set goals and create a “success plan” for academic improvement. If students do not have an open hour for study hall, we can make arrangements to meet on an individual basis. Once in the program, a student maintains his/her spot for the following year. As they develop effective study skills and habits, juniors and seniors are frequently moved to a monitored status and use the Success Center only as needed.Referred student bring home a contract asking them to commit to academic, behavioral, and attendance goals. One of the goals of the program is to involve parents in their student’s education, and for the Academic Coach to assist parents with communicating with school staff. Please feel comfortable calling or e-mailing anytime during the school year! I truly look forward to helping your son or daughter become more successful at John Marshall.
