Gary Komaniecki
My name is Gary Komaniecki, and I have been an instructor for Rochester Public Schools since 2000. I teach Power Mechanics, which is the study of small engines, and various levels of auto repair, technology, and engineering. I have a unique background in that I have previously been a professional automotive technician for 20+ years, and hold an ASE Master-Level certification with an advanced L1 rating in electronic engine performance and on-board diagnostics. Many of my former students have transitioned to successful careers in a wide variety of occupations, so I encourage any student to consider taking a hands-on, applied knowledge class no matter what your post secondary plans are. Many students will tell me that their shop class was the most useful, practical, and enjoyable class in their high school career. I can best be reached via my email at and will promptly return your inquiry. My schedule for 1st semester of the 2017-2018 school year is as follows:
  1. Period 1 JM Power mechanics
  2. Period 2 JM Power Mechanics
  3. Period 3 JM Introduction to Auto Repair/Technology
  4. Period 4 JM  Travel
  5. Period 5 Mayo Introduction to Auto Repair/Technology
  6. Period 6 (Open)
  7. Period 7 Mayo Power Mechanics
  8. Period 8 Mayo Introduction to Auto Repair/Technology

In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I am also the RPS faculty advisor for Operation Hometown Gratitude(OHG). OHG is a student run nonpolitical organization that has sent over 14, 000 care packages to deployed soldiers/sailors/airmen/Marines since 2005. In addition, I participate in special projects with my more capable and dedicated students, including the design and fabrication of a street rod and a custom tailgating machine.
