Meet the Coaches

Club Advisor/Coach James Driessen

My name is James Driessen I currently work as the Mental Health Practitioner at John Marshall High School.  I began playing rugby 9 years ago at college.  Following college I moved to Rochester where I founded the Rochester Sevens club.  I played at the D4 and D3 clubs in Faribault, Rochester and Burnsville where we went on to play in the D3 Midwest Playoffs.  I have coached sevens style rugby since 2010 and founded the Rochester high school club in the spring of 2015 with Coach Noe and Asst Coach Ramirez, where the first team went on to win 1st place at the Minnesota High School Rugby State Tournament.

Coach Jeff Noe

My name is Jeff Noe, I started playing rugby 16 years ago at college.  I then went on to play for a Division 1 mens side.  During that time, I started coaching for a girls high school team in Milwaukee.  I did that for 10 years with the best team placing 2nd at Nationals.  I was the manager for the under 20 Women's USA Rugby team for several years, organizing camps, tournaments and international matches.  After moving to MN, for the last 3 years I have been coaching Winona State Men's Rugby and as a D2 club they are routinely ranked in the top 25.  I'm certified level 200 coach for USA Rugby as well as a certified referee.

Assistant Coach

Zach DeVries

My name is Zach.  I started my love for rugby after watching the movie "Forever Strong".  My first time playing rugby was one year ago for the first ever Rochester High School Rugby Team.  Now playing for the Men's League and spreading my love for rugby around.  I'm looking forward to helping out the high school team and making it to state again.
